Erica Ramirez was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. Her classroom experience in K-12 includes teaching, leadership and support services. She has led professional development workshops on classroom curriculum, teaching strategies, facilitating communication with families, and other student-centered activities. In 2009, upon returning to Los Angeles, Ms. Ramirez began to co-write a small school plan for the Los Angeles Unified School District for a school with a career focus in social work and health advocacy. In 2012, the Community Health Advocates School (CHAS) opened its doors to the students of South Central Los Angeles.
